AlwaysOn VPN Certificate Error a
You may receive this error upon installing the AOVPN manually:
Please follow this process to get the certificate it needs installed.
Pre-requisites:
Computer in question must be added to VMG domain VMPT.local
Must be connected to the domain using the Global VPN Client or in their office if user already has the machine
Once you have added it to the domain (should be already unless this is a new build/rebuild) and connected the Global VPN Client, follow this process below:
1. Run MMC
2.
- Select File Add/Remove Snap-in...
- Select Certificates Select Add> this will add Certificate snap-in to the Console Root
5.
- Select Computer Account Local Computer Certificates (Local Computer) will be added to the Console Root list.
- Repeat Step 4 and select User Account, as well. Once Local Computer and User Account are added to the Console Root list, select OK. 8. Expand "Certificates (Local Computer) Expand Personal Right click on Certificates Select All Tasks Request New Certificate
9. At this point, if you're on the domain and connected to VPN, you will see "Active Directory Enrollment Policy"
10.
- Select Next and then select "AOVPN Computers" - Select Enroll
- It should start enrolling and then say it was successful - only takes a couple seconds usually.
- Repeat steps 8 - 11 for "Certificates - Current User".
- Once Certificate is enrolled for both, the AOVPN should connect without the certificate error.
(P.S. I have seen it work by enrolling only the Local Computer before, but not every time)
